New Delhi, July 26: India is celebrating the Victory of Claiming back the Kargil Outpost on the Indo-Pak border of Pakistan and has been celebrating its anniversary as Kargil Vijay Diwas.
The war that lasted for more than 60 days in 1999, the victory took place on July 26. Over 3,500 soldiers died in both India and Pakistan. The Kargil Day is celebrated today in honor of soldiers martyred at Kargil.
The Kargil victory day is celebrated in the Kargil-Dras region of Jammu and Kashmir and the national capital Delhi. The Prime Minister and the President pay homage to martyrs in Amar Jawan Jyoti Monument near India Gate, Delhi.
On this day, every Indian remembers the courage and adventures of the military. President Ramnath Kovind has said that the debt of the family of the warriors will always be on all of us.
