Kolkata:July-28: The National Conference (NC) chief Omar Abdullah has suggested that the Prime Ministerial candidate should not be declared now and should be discussed with the Prime Ministerial candidate after defeating the BJP.
The West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee met Omar Abdullah and Mamata Banerjee over a three-hour- discussion on the formation of Mahaghatbandhan.
“If the Prime Ministerial candidate is announced, there will be confusion or disillusionment, so the prime ministerial candidate should not be named.All the regional parties should come into the Mahaghatbandhan” said Omar.
Omar Abdullah told Banerjee not to declare any name that would divide the thrid front. Omar’s remarks came after some parties insisted on announcing the prime ministerial candidate.
Mamata Banerjee has been entrusted with the task of uniting all the opposition parties to defeat the BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. Next week, the strength of the Mahaghatbandhan will be held in Kolkata, with almost all regional parties expected to participate.
