Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said the death of Atal Behari Vajpayee is a great loss to the country. He termed Vajpayee as a great humanist and a person who followed the principles till he breathed his lost. He served as a successful MP, opposition leader, external affairs minister and Prime Minister.
In a condolence message, the Chief Minister described Vajpayee as a great parliamentarian served for four decades. He was elected for Lok Sabha ten times and Rajya Sabha two times. The Chief Minister said Vajpayee was instrumental in strengthening the BJP which was confined to 2 seats in 1984 to 270 seats at present. Though Vajpayee offered eight cabinet berths to TDP, the party stayed away from union cabinet and offered external support. I have played key role in selecting Abdul Kalam as presidential candidate by discussing with Vajpayee.
Naidu said that large number of roads and highways were developed during Vajpayee regime. He also said that Vajpayee took initiative for development of national highway from Tada to Itchapuram in AP , sanctioning world bank funds to Velugu project, sanctioning 50000 tonnes of rice under food for work, IT development in Hyderabad, international airport at Shamshabad and outer ring road in Hyderabad.
He recalled that Vajpayee had appointed him as chairman of micro irrigation task force and e inaugurated Cyber towers in Hyderabad. He said that he had strong personal attachment with Vajpayee, a great visionary. Vajpayee era remains as a history in Indian politics, he added..
