Vajpayee remains critical

The condition of former prime minister and BJP stalwart Atal Bihari Vajpayee remains critical and he continues to be on life-support system. The AIIMS in a fresh statement this morning said that Vajpayee’s condition continues to remain the same and he is critical and on life support systems.

As his health consition seems to be worsening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who visited him at the hospital last evening, is liekely to visit again today. Former Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, Vice President M VenkaiahNaidu, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, BJP chief Amit Shah and several other prominent persons visited the shopital this morning.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is on her way from Kolakatta to visti the hospital. She was minister in Vajapayee’s cabinet. Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Aravind Kejrival and many other leaders are also rushing to the hospital.

Vajpayee, a diabetic, has only one functional kidney. He had suffered a stroke in 2009 that weakened his cognitive abilities. Subsequently, he developed dementia.
