Bajrang Punia wins India’s first gold medal

 Wrestler Bajrang Punia handed India their first gold at Asian Games with 11-8 win over Daichi Takatani in the final of 65kg. This was Bajrang’s first gold at Asian Games.

After taking an early 6-0 lead, Bajrang gave up six points. But then made the lead 10-8 before a failed Japan challenge gave him one more points. Pawan Kumar will wrestle for bronze medal bout in 86kg category.

Earlier, Bajrang Punia remains India’s biggest medal hope in wrestling after he reached the 65kg finals, winning all three of his bouts by technical superiority.
