India pulled off a tremendous victory against England in the third Test at Trent Bridge with Ravichandran Ashwin giving the final blow to England on the 5th Day. After Jasprit Bumrah’s fifer, India were just one wicket away from the win yesterday.
England, needing 210 runs to win were left with mere formalities on the final day to delay the inevitable, which they could not for too long as India finished off the proceedings in just 5th over of the day. India, who were trailing 0-2 going into the third Test now have widely opened the series at 1-2 with two more games left in the ongoing series.
Indian captain Virat Kohli, who was the `man of the match’ decalred that “We as a team want to dedicate this win to the flood victims in Kerela.” After desastrous defeat in the first two test matches, India recovered from that trauma with this victory.
Kohli admitted that “it is a tough time there, and this is our bit that we can do. The win was much-needed in this series and in context, and to have done so well in all departments is a victory for the entire dressing room. There was no panic, and we were outplayed in only one game where we were outplayed out of the last 5, and that was Lord’s.”
Kohli said that they have dominated in this game because they put runs on the board and then the bowlers did well, even Ashwin did well with his injury.
