CPM MLA sexually abuses youth leader !

At a time, the CPM-led government is facing hard task to rescue the state from the unprecedented floods-havoc, the faction-ridden ruling party is locked with one after another controversies. The party was shocked when a young women leader from his party’s youth wing  Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI)  has accused that party’s MLA P K Sasi of trying to sexually abuse her following which the party has initiated a probe into the allegation.

CPM General Secretary, Sitaram Yechury admitted in New Delhi that he had received the complaint yesterday. Stating that the same was forwarded to the Kerala unit, he said that they have already started enquiry proceedings into it, as per the usual practice of the party.

She lodged a complaint with the party’s national leadership, alleging the Shornur MLA tried to sexually abuse her at the party office at Manarcaud in Palakkad. The youth leader has alleged that the CPM MLA not only sexually harassed her, but also called her up often and spoke to her in a suggestive manner.

According to her, that she first sent the complaint to party’s state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. As no action was taken, the complaint was then forwarded to party’s politburo member Brinda Karat on August 14. Even after the second complaint went unanswered, it was brought to party secretary general Sitaram Yechury’s notice, who ordered the state unit to probe the incident.

The CPM has appointed a two-member committee to probe the said charges against the MLA. A woman, too, has been made part of the team. It is reported that she has submitted recordings of the calls made by the MLA along with her complaint. Meanwhile, Sasi claimed he was unaware of the complaint. However, he accused that it was a “well planned conspiracy” to malign him politically.

CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that he had received the complaint three weeks ago and the party was taking appropriate action on it. However, he refused to commit on handing over the same to the police, stating that it has been sent to the party and not to the police.

Mahila Congress president Latika Subhash demanded the MLA’s resignation and Youth Congress president Dean Kuriakose demanded a case be registered against him and the MLA be arrested. BJP leader K Surendran attacked Karat for not handing over the complaint to police
