She lodged a complaint with the party’s national leadership, alleging the Shornur MLA tried to sexually abuse her at the party office at Manarcaud in Palakkad. The youth leader has alleged that the CPM MLA not only sexually harassed her, but also called her up often and spoke to her in a suggestive manner.
According to her, that she first sent the complaint to party’s state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. As no action was taken, the complaint was then forwarded to party’s politburo member Brinda Karat on August 14. The CPM has appointed a two-member committee to probe the said charges against the MLA. A woman, too, has been made part of the team. It is reported that she has submitted recordings of the calls made by the MLA along with her complaint. Meanwhile, Sasi claimed he was unaware of the complaint. However, he accused that it was a “well planned conspiracy” to malign him politically.
CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that he had received the complaint three weeks ago and the party was taking appropriate action on it. However, he refused to commit on handing over the same to the police, stating that it has been sent to the party and not to the police.
Mahila Congress president Latika Subhash demanded the MLA’s resignation and Youth Congress president Dean Kuriakose demanded a case be registered against him and the MLA be arrested. BJP leader K Surendran attacked Karat for not handing over the complaint to police
