Homosexuality not a crime but is unnatural: RSS

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has said that it agrees with the Supreme Court’s verdict that gay sex is not a crime. However, it said it considers same-sex relations to be unnatural.

“Like the Supreme Court, we too are of the view that this (sex between members of same gender) is not a crime,” said Arun Kumar, Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh, RSS.

He said the RSS agrees that gay sex is not a crime, but stressed that same-sex relations are unnatural. “Same-sex relations and same-sex marriages are not natural. This is why we do not support them. The Indian tradition has never approved of these relationships,” he added.

However, he maintained the Sangh’s old stand and said gay marriage and such relationships were not “compatible withnature”. “These relationships are not natural, so we do not support this kind of relationship.” He claimed that Indian society “traditionally does not recognise” such relations.

Humans usually learn from experiences, so this topic needs to be discussed and handled the social and psychological level, he added.  According to him, homosexuality needs to handled at social and psychological level because individuals learn from their surroundings.
