Salman facing hardships for his upcoming film’s title

Bollywood actor Salman Khan again facing problems from the courts, this time on the issue of title to his fothcoming film. A day after he changed the tile from `Loveratri’ to `Loveyatri’, following protests from Hindu groups, again facing facing opposition.

A Hindu outfit told the Gujarat High Court today that the new title was also unacceptable to it. The city-based Sanatan Foundation had last week moved a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking change of the title and some content of the film, or its ban for “hurting sentiments of Hindus”.

The outfit told the court that the new film title was not acceptable as it still sounds similar to Hindu festival ‘Navratri’. The petitioner’s lawyer B B Agrawal submitted in the court that the film’s tagline – a journey of love – as shown in its posters and promotions could be converted into “Love Ki Yatra”.”.

Salman Khan, the film’s producer, had  yesterday announced on micro-blogging site Twitter that the movie’s title had been changed to Loveyatri, from Loveratri. During a hearing on the admission of the PIL,  the respondent producer’s lawyer told the court that the litigation was “immature” as the movie was yet to get a certification from the censor board.

A division bench of Chief Justice R Subhash Reddy and Justice V M Pancholi directed the lawyer representing the film’s producer to seek instructions regarding the content of the movie, and asked how its promos were released without certification from the censor board.

Meanwhile, the film was already dragged to a court after a lawyer in Bihar filed a case against the makers. Later, a court in Muzaffarpur in Bihar directed the police to lodge an FIR against Salman and the cast and crew of the film on the basis of a complaint that the title and contents of the movie had hurt the Hindu sentiments.

The film is set in Gujarat and deals with love blossoming during the annual Navratri festival. The film will introduce two new actors — Aayush (who is married to Salman’s sister Arpita) and Warina, a new find. The film has been written by Naren Bhatt and has been directed by Abhiraj Minawala. Its songs are already popular and the film is set to release on October 5.
