Union Law Minister and senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad today angrily hit back at Gandhi for ‘playing into the hands of Pakistan’ and accused that the Congress chief was ‘ill-informed’ and it was important to expose the Gandhi’s lies.
He questioned why Gandhi is forcing the government in divulging the details and other specifications of the fighter jet deal, which would alert India’s enemies. He deplored that ‘there was pressure for extraneous considerations for not finalising Rafale deal during UPA rule.’ He said Reliance and Dassault had entered into agreement as early as 2012 when UPA was in power.
Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh advised Congress president Rahul Gandhi not to make allegations against the government on the Rafale issue without proof. Singh said the verification of the French media report, which quoted former French President Francois Hollande on the purchase of the Rafale fighter jets, will reveal the truth.
Meanwhile, after 24 hours of stoic silence on former French President Francois Holland’s stunning claims on Rafale deal, the defency ministry issuing a clarfication said that unnecessary controversies are being sought to be created following reports regarding a statement purportedly made by the French former President. The Government has stated earlier and again reiterates that it had no role in the selection of Reliance Defence as the Offset partner, the ministry added.
