Mob assaults 34 schoolgirls after they rejects ‘sexual advances’

In a shocking incident, at least 36 girls of a residential school in Bihar’s Supaul district were injured when they were allegedly attacked by local youths and their parents for reportedly beating up some boys for eve-teasing. The girls of Kasturba Gandhi Girls Residential School, Triveniganj, were admitted to a local hospital following the incident, yesterday.

Police, today,  arrested four youths in connection with the attack. Supaul district magistrate (DM), Baidynath Yadav said more arrests would be made soon.The girls are aged between 10 and 14 years and are studying in Classes 6 to 9.

The matter was brought to light two days ago after some girls caught the boys entering the premises of a girl’s school, and asked them to leave. When the boys refused and misbehaved, the girls then beat them up in self-defence,

After two hours, the boys returned with their parents and relatives and barged into the school, the police said, quoting one of the students. In a complaint to the police, the school Principal said despite requests to calm, the mob beat up the students and teachers. Later, the injured girls had to be hospitalized.
