FIR against Maharashtra Minister Kesarkar

The #MeToo campaigns has been hitting Devendra Fednavis government also in Maharashtra. A women has filed a police complaint against Home Minister himself. Maharashtra Miniser of state for Home Deepak Kesarkar has been accused of mistreating a woman when she sought for help from the minister regarding the atrocity committed against her.

Earlier in May 2017, the woman and her minor daughter were gang-raped by seven men after being drugged. The women claimed that she tried to register a complaint regarding the same but her complaint was registered after 45 days. Of seven accused, the police registered the complaint against only one accused. The woman alleged that this happened due to the political pressure from a politician.

Despite the monstrous act, the accused continue to threaten the woman. She has moved to five different places in just six months due to the constant threats from the accused. After all this, the police has failed to register the case against all the accused. Earlier, the State home minister had assured the woman of prosecuting the accused. However, Kesarkar couldn’t stand on his promise and after waiting for a long time to get justice, she approached the minister yet again on Monday.

But she was shocked to heard from the minister asking her “What’s your worth, don’t talk much.”. Later, the woman was thrown out of Kesarkar’s office. Finally, her complaint against the minister was registerd at Marine Drive Police Station.
