#MeToo: Sajid Khan steps down as ‘Housefull 4’ director

As #MeToo movement rocking the Bollywood as a severe tsunami, it twilting the fortunes of several artists. As a first causality, director Sajid Khan today announced his departure from “Housefull 4” in the wake of allegations of sexual harassment against him by two women.

After scores of women shared horrifying experiences of sexual misconduct and molestation at the hands of Bollywood celebrities like Rajat Kapoor, Piyush Mishra, Kailash Kher, Alok Nath, Vikas Bahl and Subhash Ghai, filmmaker Sajid Khan is the latest to come in the line of fire for his indecent behaviour.

In a post on Twitter, Sajid said he was taking the “moral responsibility” to step down till he can allay the allegations. “In the wake of the allegations against me and the pressure being put on my family, my producer and the stars of my film ‘Housefull 4’, I must take the moral responsibility of stepping down from my directorial post, till the time I can allay the allegations and prove the truth. Request my friends in the media to kindly not pass judgment till the truth is out,” he said.

Three women – actresses Saloni Chopra and Rachel White and a journalist Karishma Upadhyay- took to social media to call out the director for his unwarranted advances and molestation. He has been accused of inappropriate behaviour, ranging from pulling his p***s out during interactions to asking actresses to strip for him.

After reading the shocking allegations against the filmmaker, Akshay Kumar, who is working with Sajid in Houseful 4, announced that he has requested the producers of the film to cancel the shoot until the allegations against Sajid are investigated. A few minutes after Akshay decided to stall the shooting of the film, Sajid took to social media to release a statement stating that he is stepping down as the director of Housefull 4 till the time he can allay the allegations and prove the truth.
