India thrashed West Indies by 10 wickets in the second Test of the series at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, today. Chasing 75 in the second innings to wrap the series 2-0, India got home without losing any wickets.
Earlier Umesh Yadav produced one of the best fast bowling spells to reduce West Indies to 127 in their second innings. Umesh picked up 10 wickets in the match and thus becoming only the third Indian fast bowler to pick up a 10-wicket haul at home.
India registered a clean sweep against West Indies, demolishing a listless West Indies by 10 wickets in the second Test, inside three days, to clinch the series 2-0.
Umesh Yadav’s maiden 10-wicket haul (6/88 and 4/45) on a decent track was the highlight as India reached the meagre victory target of 72 in 16.1 overs, courtesy unbeaten partnership between openers Prithvi Shaw (33) and K L Rahul (33).
West Indies folded for 127 in the second innings leaving India with a target of 72 to chase. Umesh ended up picking up the man of the match award, while 18-year-old Prithvi Shaw is the man of the series in his very first Test rubber.
Out of the four innings in this series, West Indies couldn’t cross the 200-run mark thrice which was a testimony to their plight during the series. For India, it was their 10th series win at home since their last defeat against England way back in 2012.
