Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu flashed second letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealing him to declare Titli cyclone as national calamity and immediately release of Rs 1200 cr as interim relief. He said Titli cyclone devastated north coastal Andrha Prdesh especially in Udhanam area of Srikakulam district. The cyclone damaged the public private properties in 1802 villages covering Srikakulam and Vizianagarm districts resulting in death of 16 persons and the total damage amounts to Rs 3,435 crore.
Naidu deplored that though he had written the first letter a week ago and a representation was given to Home Minister Rajnath Singh, till now nothing is heard from the Center. He pointed out that no one from the center till now visited the cyclone affected area and the center is not moving towards sending an official team to estimate losses.
He expressed concern over severe negligent attitude of Modi regime towards Andhra Pradesh.He said that the state government has spent Rs 500 crore till now in relief activities.
According to him, the losses include Electricity Rs 505.05 cr, Roads and Buildings Rs 406.32 cr, Panchayat Raj and rural development Rs 140.55 cr, Agriculture Rs 802.13 cr, Horticulture Rs 1000 cr, Animal Husbandry Rs 50 cr, Fisheries Rs 50 cr, Rural water supply Rs 100 cr, Irrigation Rs 100 cr, House damages Rs 220.49 cr, Ex-gratia (Human loss) Rs 55 lakh, civil supplies Rs 50 lakh, medical and health Rs 1.07 cr, Municipal administration and sanitation Rs 8.58 cr.
The Chief Minister said that he camped in cyclone affected area for one week along with other cabinet colleagues’ and monitoring relief operations through teleconference.
