Uttar Pradesh minister OP Rajbhar today targetted the BJP governmetn in the state over over its decision to rechristen Mughalsarai and Faizabad, saying that the saffron party should first change the names of their leaders with a Muslim name.
“BJP changed the names of Mughalsarai and Faizabad. They say they were named after the Mughals. They have a National Spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain, Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, UP Minister Mohsin Raza — 3 Muslim faces of BJP, change their names first,” OP Rajbhar said.
Rajbhar further alleged that renaming cities by the BJP government in the state is a way to distract the oppressed and backward whenever they raise their voice to demand their rights. “No one else has given the things which Muslims gave. Should we throw away GT Road? Who built the Red Fort? Who built the Taj Mahal?” he asked.
Rajbhar’s attack at the Yogi Adityanath’s government came hours after BJP MLA Jagan Prasad Garg demanded the renaming of Agra as either Agravan or Agraval. Claiming that Agra has no meaning, Garg, who represents Agra North constituency in the state, said, “You check the name Agra anywhere, what relevance does it have? Earlier there used to be a lot of forests here. And people from the Agarwal community used to live here. So the name should be Agra-van or Agra-wal.”
Stating there is a lot of talk but little action on the ground, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party chief Rajbhar said the BJP is not following “coalition dharma”.
