HD Kumaraswamy government in Karnataka is focusing towards various social welfare programmes intending to attract attention of the poor and marginalised sections of population in the state. Now, it is proposing to launch a new scheme intending to assist the poor in organ transplantation.
Under the newly proposing project, at the cost of `30 crore under Suvarna Arogya Suraksha Trust (SAST), the government is intending to assist the needy poor in organ transplantation. The SAST is the implementing agency for Ayushman Bharat Arogya Karnataka. The government will foot a large part of the expenditure.
Dr Kishore Phadke, convener, Jeevasarthakathe, the transplant authority of Karnataka, said, “There is no other alternative in the last stage of kidney and heart disease but to get transplants done. Hence this is a good move.”
