Six terrorists killed in J&K’s Anantnag encounter

In a major breakthrough to security forces operating in Jammu and Kashmir, at least six terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Sekipora area of Bijbhera in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district , early hours of today.

Indian Army’s 3 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and police are jointly conducting the ongoing operation. “Six terrorists have been killed. Operation in progress,” said Col Rajesh Kalia, Defence spokesman at Srinagar

He also said that weapons and warlike stores have been recovered from them.The Valley has been witnessing a spurt in terror activities for the past few months. Officials said they had information that six or seven militants were hiding at Seikpora village and when search and cordon operation began in early hours it turned into an operation.

It may be recalled that oOne Indian Army jawan was killed and four terrorists were gunned down in an encounter at Nadigam village of Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district, last Tuesday.
