PM Modi says BJP accepts people’s mandate with humility

A day after results of five assembly elections came out, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the BJP accepts the people’s mandate with humility. The BJP was unseated in three of five states and in remaining two states it gets only one seat each. BJP lost governments in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, after a gap of 15 years.

In a series of tweets, the Narendra Modi thanked the voters and said the BJP governments had worked hard.  “We accept the people’s mandate with humility. I thank the people of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan for giving us the opportunity to serve these states. The BJP Governments in these states worked tirelessly for the welfare of the people,” he said.

The PM said: “Victory and defeat are an integral part of life.” He said the BJP workers worked “day and night” for the state elections. “I salute them for their hardwork,” he said.

Speaking about the assembly election results, Modi said the results will “further our resolve to serve people and work even harder for the development of India”.

The Prime Minister also congratulated the Congress for its victories. “Congratulations to KCR Garu for the thumping win in Telangana and to the Mizo National Front (MNF) for their impressive victory in Mizoram,” he said in another tweet.
