Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan, who recently launched a political out-fit Makkal Needhi Maiam, announced today that his party will contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
He said already he is preparing for the poll and soon a committee will be constituted for selection of candidates. Stating that he is ready for alliances with like-minded parties, he said that the time has to come to reveal more details of such alliances.
Haasan, 64 said his party is open to align with like-minded parties and the focus of the campaign would be on the development of Tamil Nadu. However, he made it clear that he would not collaborate with any party that “tries to change Tamil Nadu’s DNA”
He said that it will take time to decide on the role being played by his party in such alliance. “Whether we will lead the alliance or we will be part of an alliance has to decide during course of time”, he added.
