2 women stopped 2 km away from Sabarimala temple, being brought back

The tension at Sabarimala continued for the second day too, as two more women devotees today attempted to reach Sabarimala shrine ignoring protests. Though they were brought back to Pampa base camp due to ongoing protests, later police escorted them and moving towards the shrine.

Earlier, they were stopped by protesters at Appachimedu, two kms away from the hilltop shrine. Bindu and Durga, escorted by police, have reached Marakootam, about a kilometer from the Sannidhanam. They are waiting for more police personnel to accompany them.

The women were earlier stopped at Appachimedu, a place en route Sabarimala, by protesters, who were later removed by police.

Lord Ayyappa devotees are holding the protest in Perinthalmanna, Malappuram, outside the residence of Bindu, a woman devotee who began the trek to Sabarimala Temple today morning.

Bindu from Malappuram and Durga of Kozhikode are on their way to the hilltop shrine in Kerala under heavy police protection.
