The BJP, which is practically left without any major alliance partner in Southern state, is making efforts to have seat adjustments with ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu. The AIADMK is also seems to be eager to formalize its alliance with BJP-led NDA.
Till now, BJP is waiting for a call from super star Rajanikanth, who is setting up a political party soon. However, BJP failed to receive any positive signals from him with regard to alliance. Even, he is yet to announce the name and structure of his party. BJP is viewing that Rajanikanth may not contest in Lok Sabha polls.
Two significant meetings were held yesterday between AIADMK and BJP leaders. While, chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami met Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan in Chennai, two AIADMK ministers met Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitaraman in New Delhi. During these meetings, leaders said to be discussed on poll alliance.
Meanwhile, BJP general secretary Ram Madhav also announced that BJP is working on brining new allies into the NDA fold, especially in south India and eastern India. As some allies are creating problems to BJP ahead of 2019 polls, it is bound to get few more allies, besides cementing its relations with existing allies.
