Four terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, earlier today. Acting on specific information about the presence of terrorists in Hanjan area of Pulwama in south Kashmir, security forces launched a cordon and search operation.
A police official said that the forces were conducting searches, the hiding terrorists fired upon them. The forces retaliated, leading to the encounter in which four terrorists were killed. Arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.
Reports from the area mentioned that the slain militants belonged to Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) outfit. Meanwhile, on Friday, a militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Awantipora area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The slain militant was identified as Ishfaq Yousuf Wani, a resident of Qoil area of Pulwama in south Kashmir.
On December 22, the security forces had gunned down six terrorists, including Zakir Musa’s close aide Soliha Mohammad, in another encounter. The six slain terrorists belonged to Zakir Musa’s terror outfit Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind — a cell of Al-Qaeda operating in the Kashmir valley.
