Bengal BJP chief says Mamata has best chance to become PM

West Bengal BJP state president Dilip Ghosh, known as a bitter critic of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, has surprised everyone stating that she is the only leader from the state, who is having best chances to become Prime Minister. He even said that Banerjee’s name was first in the list of leaders who can be prime minister.

“If the selection was to be made from Bengal, Mamata Banerjee has the brightest chance. She is dreaming of becoming the next PM, and therefore I wish her luck. She needs to be in good health, as the fate of the state depends on her success,” said Ghosh, while extending birthday wishes to her.

He made the statement, the video of which was uploaded on Youtube around 9.15 pm, while wishing Banerjee good health on her birthday. Born on Jan 5, 1955, the Bengal chief minister turned 64, yesterday.

“Bengal’s fate depends on her success. She needs to be in good health because if someone from Bengal is selected a prime minister she has the brightest chance,” said Ghosh. He recalled that Jyoti Basu could have been the first Bengali to get that opportunity but his party (CPI-M) did not allow him.

As the video went viral, Ghosh said that he was wishing Banerjee on her birthday and did not want to say anything bad. “She dreams of being the next PM. So I wished her luck. Of course, Narendra Modi will lead the country again in 2019,” he added.

Notably, Ghosh’s statement came as a shocker for the state BJP as it is engaged in a bitter fight against the TMC over proposed Amit Shah’s proposed Rath Yatra in three districts of West Bengal.  Earlier on Thursday, the Supreme Court agreed to hear on January 8 a plea by the BJP against a Calcutta High Court order not allowing the party to undertake Rath Yatra in West Bengal.
