Asking her admirers, party workers and also new-found friendly SP cadre to focus on success of their candidates in the coming Lok Sabha polls, BSP chief Mayawati said today that victory of alliance will be a gretest gift on her birthday. On her 63rd birthday, two days after struck an alliance pact with SP in Uttar Pradesh, she asked them to ensure victory for all joint candidates of the combine. She also appealed to to BSP and SP workers to forget their differences and ensure victory.
Invoking her core vote bank, the Dalits, BSP chief Mayawati asked her party workers to mark it as Jankalyankari Diwas (public welfare day) and help the needy. Stressing on the political importance of the state, she said, “UP decides who will come to power in the Centre and who will be Prime Minister.”
The BSP chief did not spare the Congress either. She said the grand old party ruled the country for the longest time yet “no development took place under them”.She said that due to wrong policies of both Congress BJP, people are suffering.
Attacking the BJP-led Centre, Mayawati said that the slogan of ‘Achchhe Din’ was a mere ‘jumla’. She enumerated how some of the much-touted Government measures had come to a nought. She said, “Demonetisation has crippled the economy.”
She also said that ever since BSP and SP had tied up, the BSP was having sleepless nights. “The people have taught BJP a lesson in the recently concluded five states. It’s a lesson for Congress as well. People are raising question over Congress government in the three states since it has not fulfilled it’s promises,” she added.
She said results of the recently concluded Assembly elections should serve as a lesson not just for the BJP but for the Congress as well. However, she skirted the issue of being the prime ministerial candidate in the coming Lok Sabha elections and said, “People of the country will decide who the next PM will be.”
