PM Modi says Left conduct “most shameful” on Sabarimala

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi at the inauguration of the Kollam Bypass on NH 66, in Kerala on January 15, 2019. The Governor of Kerala, Justice (Retd.) P. Sathasivam and the Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan are also seen.

Prime Minister Narendra Momdi today teared into the Pinarayi Vijayan led Left Democratic Front (LDF) government conduct on the issue of Sabarimala and said it will go down in history as one of the “most shameful behaviours”.

Addressing a rally in Kollam, tour, he deplored that Communists do not respect Indian history, culture and spirituality. But, he wondered that nobody imagined, they would have such hatred.

At the same time, Prime Minister lamented that the Congress-led UDF (United Democratic Front) is no better. He said that the Congress has multiple stands—they say one thing in Parliament but a different thing in Pathanamthitta (where the Lord Ayyappa shrine is located).

Modi was referring to Congress president Rahul Gandhi who recently said that he can’t take an “open-and-shut” position on the issue as there is validity in the arguments of both the sides and he would leave it to the people of Kerala to decide on the matter. He had earlier argued that all women should be allowed to enter the Sabarimala shrine.

Modi asserted that the BJP’s stand on Sabarimala has always been clear and consistent. “The actions of our party match our words. If there is one party that has been at the forefront of standing with Kerala and its culture, it is BJP,” he added.

Calling the LDF and UDF two sides of the same coin, the PM said that both the Left and the Congress are good at making tall claims on gender justice but their actions are different from their words.

Recalling that the NDA government has been working towards abolishing triple talaq, he asked who is opposing us? The Communists and the Congress, he added.
