Ruling out any scope for reaching out alliance with BJP for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Naidu ridiculed it stating as a big joke. It made it clear that it would rather strengthen its own cadre from the forthcoming challenge of Lok Sabha elections than have a truck with BJP.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given indications last week on possible alliance between BJP and AIADMK by stating that his party was open to alliance and cherished its old friends.
However, AIADMKsenior leader M Thambidurai said “It is a joke to say that we will carry the BJP on our back and help them gain a foothold in Tamil Nadu. We will work to strengthen our party, let them work to strengthen theirs.”
The BJP had fought the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu leading a six-party alliance comprising smaller parties, including the DMDK, the PMK and Vaiko-led MDMK, and won two of the 39 seats — one each by the saffron party and PMK.
