The Congress party crisis in Karnataka today taken a new turn with the party has suspended its MLA J N Ganesh for allegedly hitting his colleague MLA Anand Singh, at a private resort in Bengaluru on Saturday evening.
Though Congress leadership earlier denied of any such incident, even after Anand Singh was admitted in a hospital with head injury, now serious allegations have been made with regard to the incident.
KPCC Presidetn Dinesh Gundu Rao has suspended Ganesh with immediate effect, pending inquiry. In order to conduct detailed inquiry about the incident a special inquiry committee committee had been constituted under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara. It also includes Ministers K J George and Krishna Byre Gowda. The committee had been asked to submit the report at the earliest.
According to KPCC press release, the party leaders have conducted preliminary inquiry about the ‘unpleasant’ incident that happened on January 19 and have also collected information from Anand Singh.
Meanwhile, Singh reportedly filed a complaint against Ganesh for threatening and punching him after which the former was rushed to a hospital. Following the complaint, a case of attempt to murder has been lodged against Ganesh.
Anand Singh filed a FIR yesterday, in which he alleged that Ganesh abused him, beat him with a stick, pushed him to the wall and threatened to kill him. On the other hand, Ganesh claimed that he too was injured in the scuffle, an incident that has given an embarrassing twist to the party’s bid to keep its flock together.
The legislator said no “bottle attack” had taken place as projected in the media, while indicating that some kind of a brawl had taken place between him and Singh at Eagleton Resorts on the city outskirts late Saturday night.
