Rahul brings Priyanka to challenge SP-BSP combine

Congress President Rahul Gandhi seems to be seriously working out to challenge the SP-BSP combine in Uttar Pradesh, after Congress was ignored in forming alliance in the crucial state. In a bid to give a impressive fight in the state during forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, he has decided to bring his sister Priyanka Gandhi as a front-runner campaigner for the party.

In a tackful move, he has appointed two youth leaders – Priyanka Gandi Vadra and Jyotiraditya Scindia as AICC General Secretaries and assigned them the task of leading the party in UP during elections.

While Priynaka has been made as AICC General Secretary for UP East, Scindia, who was in the running to become MP Chief Minister, was appointed as AICC General Secretary for UP West. It may be recalled, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is the star camapigner for BJP in Easatern UP.

Till now, Priyanka was confined to the constituencies of her mother and brother Raebareli and Amethi, besides providing behind curtain support to his brother. It may be recalled that recently after Congress winning three states, she had played decissive role, along with her mother Sonia in deciding party chief minister candidates.

Meanwhile, KC Venugopal was appointed Congress General Secretary (Organisation), in the position till now hold by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. He will also continue in his present role as AICC General Secretary In-Charge for Karnataka. Meanwhile, Ghulam Nabi Azam has been appointed as AICC General Secretary for Haryana.

Reacting Congress president Rahul Gandhi said he was personally very happy. He said: “I am personally very happy that she will work with me. She is very hard-working. Jyotiraditya Scindia is also very dynamic. BJP leaders are scared.”

Senior Congress leader Motilal Vohra on Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said: “The responsibility given to Priyanka ji is very important. This will not only have an effect on eastern Uttar Pradesh but also other regions.”

However, reacting to the development BJP spokesperson  Sambit Patra  said, “This is not a challenge for BJP. This was expected. It’s family dynasty and reflects that Rahul Gandhi has failed. And in future, Robert Vadra too will enter politics. Only a Gandhi can become president of the party
