Responding to the pleas from BCCI, cricketers and several other quarters, After over two weeks, the Committee of Administrators (CoAO) today has lifted the suspension on cricketers Hardik Pandy and K L Rahul. However, the probe against them will be continued.
The Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) said this evening that this decision was taken with the concurrence of the Learned Amicus Curiae, P S Narasimha.As a result, the suspension orders dated 11.01.2019 was lilfted immediately pending appointmetn and adjudication of the allegations by the BCCI Ombudsman.
The Supreme Court has listed the matter tentatively for February 5. Pandya is likely to join the Indian team in New Zealand after an interim relief, while Rahul might play in either domestic cricket or be part of India A team in the ongoing home series against England Lions.
BCCI acting president C K Khanna was the first to request the players to continue playing while the investigation is on. Due to suspension, they were asked to leave in the middle of Australia tour and not included in ongoing New Zealand tour.
Both of them came came under fire earlier this month for certain `sexiest’ comments they made during their appearance on the show ‘Koffee with Karan’. The duo was criticised as the comments were seen to be disrespectful towards women.
