Priyanka takes charge as Congress general secretary

Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s sister Priyanka Gandhi today took charge as Congress general secretary at AICC headquarters in New Delhi, 13 days after she was inducted into the party as general secretary and incharge for Uttar Pradesh-East.

In a photograph circulated by the communication department of the Congress party, Priyanka can be seen interacting with two Congress workers. She has been allotted a room next to his brother and Congress president’s room at the Congress headquarters located at 24 Akbar road, New Delhi.

Prior to her taking charge as party functionary, she accompanied her husband businessman Robert Vadra to Enforcement Directorate. Robert Vadra was asked by a Delhi court to join investigation in a money laundering case.

Priyanka Gandhi said she wanted to send out a “clear message” with her appearance, “I stand by my hus band.” This is the first time Robert Vadra appeared before any investigative agency.

Arriving at the ED office located in central Delhi’s Jamnagar House, both Priyanka and Robert Vadra hugged each other before she dropped him off and headed to her mother Sonia Gandhi’s residence at 10 Janpath. Speaking to reporters outside her office at Congress headquarters on Akbar road, Priyanka Gandhi said, “The world knows what is happening… He is my husband, he is my family, I will stand by him.”
