After the humiliation in Wellington, Team India produced a thoroughly clinical performance against New Zealand to level the three-match T20I series 1-1 in Auckland.
Skipper Rohit Sharma scored a brisk 28-ball half-century to lead India’s chase of 159 in the second T20I. Rohit and opener Shikhar Dhawan added 79 for the first wicket before Rishabh Pant played an important knock to help India avenge the humiliation of Wellington.
This is also India’s first win in New Zealand in T20Is. They lost all the three T20Is which they played before in the Kiwi land. USA is the only country where they have not won a T20I match yet among countries in which they have played the shortest format.
Earlier, all-rounder Krunal Pandya enhanced his already growing reputation as a steady short format bowler with three important breakthroughs as India restricted New Zealand to a below-par 158/8.
