Congress President Rahul Gandhi had advised both his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and former union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, newly appointed party general secretaries and given in charge of crucial state Uttar Pradesh, to focus them on next Assembly elections there.
In a clear message, they ask them `not to expect miracles’ in two months, indicating forthcoming Lok Sabha elections 2019. During the strategy meeting held at the AICC headquarters, last evening, for upcoming Lok Sabha polls, he asked them to strengthen the party in the state and told them to sprint into `mission mode’ aiming at the assembly elections, to be held in 2022.
Furthermore, the meeting, convened by Rahul Gandhi a day after Priyanka and Jyotiraditya took charge as AICC general secretaries of Uttar Pradesh East and West respectively, focused on party’s overall strategy for the Lok Sabha polls and booth-level organisation.
Rahul Gandhi has also called a meeting of state chiefs and Congress Legislature Party leaders on Saturday in the national capital, to review preparedness for the general election.
