Jaitley returns India after medicare in US

Union Minister Arun Jaitley today  returned to India following his medical treatment in the United States. Soon after, Jaitley tweeted how delighted he was to be back home.

The senior minister in Modi cabinet had left for the US for a medical checkup for his kidney ailment last month. Thereafter, the charge of Finance ministry was given to Piyush Goyal by the President to present the Union Budget 2019. In his absence, the interim budget was presented by Piyush Goyal.

Jaitley was admitted to AIIMS last year in early April following which he underwent dialysis. He had a renal transplant surgery on May 14, 2018. In September 2014, Jaitley had undergone a bariatric surgery to treat weight gain that he suffered because of a long-standing diabetic condition.

That surgery was first performed at Max Hospital, but Jaitley was later shifted to AIIMS because of complications. He also had heart surgery several years ago.

Jaitley, however, has been active on social media tweeting and writing Facebook posts and had also met reporters through a video call from New York and fielded questions on the Budget 2019. He also gave interviews on the subject
