The international pressure seems to be intensifying against Pakistan following Pulwama terror attack. Already several countries, including UN have sought Pakistan to respond on such incidents. Now, the European Union asked Pakistan to take “clear and sustained” actions against terrorist groups, and not only the UN-listed but also the group that claimed responsibility for the Pulwama attack.
This statement comes amid India mounting diplomatic pressure worldwide to stonewall Pakistan’s efforts to ‘shield’ terror groups breeding on its soil. The EU also issued a statement for both India and Pakistan, urging nations to de-escalate tensions that have arisen in wake of the dastardly south Kashmir’s Pulwama attack, orchestrated by Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).
Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the EU Commission, urged Pakistan and India to urgently “de-escalate” the tension which has built up after the attack.
Mogherini also highlighted the need to “continue addressing terrorism including clear and sustained actions targeting not only all United Nations-listed transnational terrorist groups but also individuals claiming responsibility for such attacks” the statement said.
