Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, who had succeeded in fulfilling the dream of heading party government in the state, though all is political career centered at national level, observers says he is unable to be pro-active in office.
Digvijay Singh, who had handed over power to BJP, 15 years ago, being chief minister of the state for a decade, is said to be the real center of power in the state, presently. Chief Minister is reportedly remaining as a `silent spectator’ towards Digvijay Singh’s political domination, showing his gratitude for playing critical role in making his as chief minister.
It may be recalled that Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s choice was Jyotiraditya Sindia to head the party and also government in the state. But it was due to stiff resistance from Digvijay Singh, he was forced to give nod for Kamal Nath to head the party initially, later to head the government. Both Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi took over three days to convince Rahul Gandhi to `select’ Kamal Nath as Chief Minister.
Taking advantage from Kamal Nath’s passive administration, from key appointments in the government to admonishing ministers for goof-ups, Digvijay Singh seems to be calling the shots. Several Congress ministers in the state are becoming victims to the brunt of Digvijay’s anger for “playing into the hands of certain people in the government who are sympathetic to the BJP and torpedoing the Congress from within.”
Digivijay Singh was angry with several ministers are giving clean chits during the state Assembly session to the BJP’s Shivraj Singh Chouhan government on alleged scams which the Congress had relentlessly raised in the run up to the Assembly elections. Digvijay’s terse warning to the ministers against ‘saboteurs’ has caused a desired effect.
Now, all ministers are suspecting officers for their alleged close links with previous BJP regime and also busy in probing irregularities in the previous regime.
