Hours after India carried out pre-dawn surgical strikes on terror camps across the border, Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale confirmed strikes at a press conference said it was an intelligence led operation. Giving details of the daring operation by the Indian Air Force, he said that top leaders have been eliminated striking the biggest Jaish facility in Balakot.
Terming the operation as a non-military pre-preemptive action to counter multiple potential fidayeen attacks, he said that India expects Pakistan to dismantle all terror camps, including those of JeM.
“Large number of JeM terrorists, trainers, senior commanders were eliminated in largest JeM camp in Balakot which was led by Maulana Yusuf Azhar alias Ustad Ghauri, the brother-in-law of JeM chief Masood Azhar,” he added.
The Foreign Secretary added that India expects Pakistan to dismantle all terror camps, including those of JeM. Indicating that they would resort to such attacks in future too, he asserted that India is firmly committed towards taking all measures to fight terrorism.
According to him, India struck the biggest training camp of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Balakot. In this operation, a very large number of JeM terrorists, trainers, senior commander and Jihadis were eliminated.
He also said that credible information was received that JeM was attempting other attacks in the country. So. Revealing the need for this strike at this time, he added a pre-emptive strike became important. India struck the biggest camp of JeM in Balakot.
