India seeks immediate, safe return of IAF pilot Abhinandan from Pakistan

After it was confirming missing Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Wing Commander Abhinanda is in Pakistna custody, India has initiated hectic diplomatic initiatives seeking  his return to the country.

The Indian High Commission in Pakistan has reportedly issued a demarche to Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, last evening, asking for his immediate and safe return to India.

It may be recalled that he went  ‘missing in action’ while retaliating to three Pakistani jets as they violated the Indian airspace in Poonch and Nowshera sectors of Jammu and Kashmir, yesterday.

At the same time, a similar demarche was issued to Pakistan’s acting High Commissioner in New Delhi also yesterday,  by the Ministry of External Affairs to lodge a strong protest over Pakistan Air Force targeting Indian military installations.

Terming Pakistan’s aggression over the pre-emptive air strike unfortunate, India said, “It is unfortunate that instead of fulfilling its international obligation and bilateral commitment to take credible action against terrorist entities and individuals operating from its soil, Pakistan has acted with aggression against India.”

Acknowledging IAF pilot Abhinandan ‘missing in action’, the MEA objected to the ‘vulgar display’ of the injured IAF pilot in violation of all norms and said Islamabad must ensure that no harm was done to the defence personnel in its custody.
