Nitin Gadkari says not in PM race, asserts Modi is PM

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who is often being speculated as a choice of RSS to replace Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has again clarified that he is not in the race for Prime Minister position. He asserted that Modi ji is the Prime Minister and will become Prime Minister again. He also said that “I have nothing to do with it”.

Godkari further said that he is from RSS and their mission is to work for the nation. Stating that country is progressing in terms of development and growth under Modiji’s leadership, he made it clear that they are standing behind him. “Where does the question arise of my becoming the PM,” Gadkari said ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2019.

Earlier on Wednesday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at an award ceremony said said the prime minister’s post has been booked for the next two general elections. When actor Riteish Deshmukh asked who from Maharashtra, including Sharad Pawar and Nitin Gadkari, can become the prime minister, Fadnavis said, “Let me tell you, this question does not arise, because the post for prime minister has already been booked… Not only for this year’s election, but also for the 2024 polls.”

Meanwhile, Gadkari also exuded confidence and said that BJP would get absolute majority in the upcoming elections and the country would go ahead on the path of development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Reacting to speculations that in case of a fractured mandate, Gadkari would be the BJP’s consensus Prime Minister candidate, the minister said it is like “Mungeri Lal Ke Haseen Sapne” (day dreaming)”.
