Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal-Secular JD(S) chief HD Deve Gowda today said that his party has decided to join hands with BJP in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls for two purposes. According to him, the first one is to revive secular forces in the country and secondly, to defeat BJP.
Ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha polls, he is confident that seat sharing between Congress and his party goes smoothly, as both the parties are determined to defeat BJP.
He indicated the seat sharing between two parties will be completed during next week or ten days. Asserting that he will not give scope to governance of coalition government in the state and will seek only reasonable number of seats, but not insist for 12 seats out of the 28 in Karnataka
“Being the JD(S) head, I will not give a chance for the coalition government in Karnataka to face any danger,” he said referring to the seat-sharing formula which remains unsolved between the two parties.
He is also sure that the Congress will not be insisting on sparing some of the seats to its coalition partner. It may be recalled that both Congress and JD(S) are locked in stalemate over the seats like Mandya and Mysore, besides Tumakuru and few other Lok Sabha seats, where both the parties are having strong clailms.
The Coordination Committee of both the JD(S) and the Congress will meet on March 4, mainly to discuss the seat-sharing which will be finalised later at the high command level.
