Rahul Gandhi claims NSA Ajit Doval took Masood Azhar to Afghanistan, govt sources deny

Once again attempting to corner BJP on the issue of its war on terrorism, Congress president Rahul Gandhi again asked Prime Minister to tell the families of the 40 CRPF jawans killed in Pulwama terror strike as to who released Masood Azhar, whose Jaish-e-Mohammed, claimed responsibility. He further went on asking the Prime Minister to tell the nation whether present National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was the deal maker, who went to Kandahar to hand the murderer back to Pakistan.

However, BJP reacted sharply and condemned his accusations and rubbished Rahul Gandhi’s claim that Ajit Doval went to Kandahar. Rahul Gandhi even shared a picture along with his tweet to prove his point. Notably, Azhar, along with some other terrorists, was released by the Indian government in December 1999 in lieu of the release of over 150 hostages of the IC-814 Indian Airlines flight that was hijacked to Kandahar.

Reacting sharply to Gandhi’s allegations, BJP tweeted,”You were probably busy playing video games when the whole nation was praying for safe return of hijacked passengers. Do you know that all decisions regarding the hijacking were taken at all-party meet?”

The BJP also reminded the Congress chief of releasing Shahid Latif, chief handler of the fidayeen squad that attacked Pathankot airbase. “Remember Latif, handler of Pathankot, released by UPA as goodwill gesture,” the ruling party lambasted Gandhi.
