Modi to Interact With ‘Main Bhi Chowkidaar’ Pledge Takers on Mar 31

Ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to interact with people who have pledged their support to ‘Main bhi Chowkidaar’ campaign, through video conference from 500 locations in the country on March 31.

Taking a jibe at Congress leaders for mocking the campaign, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that ”While the campaign was becoming popular among the common man, those who were out on bail and facing various legal action were troubled by it.”

He claimed that over one crore people have joined the campaign and it is now a people’s movement. While it is becoming popular among the people, he alleged that there are some who are opposing it.

Reacting to Priyanka Gandhi’s comment that ‘Chowkidaars are not meant for farmers but for rich’, Prasad said,”Those who are out on bail with their families or have something to hide are opposing the movement. Some people are saying ‘Chowkidaar’ is for the rich. These are the same people who looted about 12 lakh crore from poor people,” he added.

Earlier on Sunday, the ruling BJP stepped up its ‘Main bhi chowkidaar’ campaign with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other party leaders, including its president Amit Shah, prefixing the word ‘chowkidaar’ to their names in their Twitter profile as they sought people’s support in the Lok Sabha elections 2019.
