Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s wife Rivaba eyes BJP ticket from Gujarat

Team India’s spinner Ravindra Jadeja’s wife Rivaba Jadeja is attempting to contest in Lok Sabha polls on BJP ticket from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state Gujarat. She is eying on BJP’s strong-hold Jamnagar seat,   from where the Congress is likely to field Patidar agitation leader Hardik Patel.

Rivaba was recently named the president of the women’s wing of the Karni Sena, which became famous all over the country for it’s violent protest against Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s `Padmavat’ film. Now, with the support of the Kshatriya community, she has joined the BJP and is set to make her political debut.

The Jamnagar seat is currently represented by BJP’s Poonam Madam. Madam defeated Congress veteran Vikram Madam, also her uncle, in 2014. Gujarat is also home state of BJP president Amit Shah, who was elected to Rajya Sabha from the state and also seeking to content in Lok Sabha polls. He is too believed to be in search of a comfortable Lok Sabha seat from the state.

The BJP had won all the 26 seats in Gujarat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections on the back of a Modi wave that helped the party attain majority at the Centre.
