Prime Minister Narendra Modi will kick off his “Main Bhi Chowkidar” (I too am a watchman) poll campaign, today. He will launch this campaign by interacting with over 25 lakh people across the country through an audio bridge medium. On the eve of Holi, the PM will address the watchmen community and highlight their works.
BJP is projecting this campaign as a “People’s movement” as the ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ hashtag has been tweeted 20 lakh times and has had 1,680 crore impressions. While BJP leaders, including party president Amit Shah, and Union ministers followed PM Modi and prefixed their names on the microblogging site with ‘chowkidar’ as they sought people’s support for the party in the Lok Sabha polls, the Opposition left no stone unturned in attacking the Modi-government.
Meanwhile, the BJP’s Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting will continue today to decide on its first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. Union Ministers and BJP leaders will mull over several strategies for upcoming polls in the CEC meeting at BJP headquarters.
Discussions will be held on seats in 10 states including Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, and Odisha. The CEC last met on Saturday, March 16, following which it released a list of 123 candidates for Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections and 54 candidates for Arunachal Pradesh Assembly elections.
