DMK seeks EC stay on Modi’s biopic

While the much-awaited biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to release on April 12, the DMK has objected towards its release, alleging it amount to violation of code of conduct for the polls.

It has written to the Election Commission and asked for a stay on the movie. The DMK sought a ban on the movie ‘PM Narendra Modi’ till the Lok Sabha elections conclude.

P S Arasu Bupathi of the DMK’s engineering wing, from Pollachi, wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner, the Chief Electoral Officer and the State Election Commissioner, and asked them to postpone the release of the biopic on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

DMK has claimed that the movie PM Narendra Modi’ portrays the political lifestyle of the PM which as per the party can influence the voters during poll season.

Vivek Oberoi stars as Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the biopic.  The trailer of the biopic, directed by Omung Kumar, was released yesterday and it shows Vivek Oberoi struggling to play the Indian Prime Minister.

Oberoi, who changed his screen name to Vivek Anand Oberoi right before the biopic was announced, tries hard to play Modi, but with little success. At the trailer launch, director Omung Kumar said, “Modiji’s struggle is an incredible true story.”
