Seven terrorists killed in Valley in last 24 hours, three were Pakistani nationals

Security forces achieved a break-through in checking terrorists in Kashmir Valley by killing seven top terrorists, three of whom were Pakistani nationals, in three different anti-terror operations across the Valley in the last 24 hours.

The terrorists also made an abortive bid on the life of Congress leader and chairman of Anantnag municipal committee Hilal Ahmad Shah, yesterday.  He escaped unhurt but his personal security officer was hurt. “The attack on Shah amounts to silencing a genuine voice before the parliamentary polls,” said GA Mir, state Congress president.

Police said two terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohommad (JeM) were killed at Kalantara Payeen in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday. One of the two killed terrorists have been identified as Aamir Rasool of Sopore. Police said the material recovered from the site of encounter shows that the other slain terrorist is a Pakistani national.

“Both terrorists were affiliated to the banned JeM and were wanted for a series of terror crimes including attack on security establishments and civilian atrocities,” said police sources. In another encounter, security forces killed two top Pakistani Lashkar-e-Tioba terrorists in Hajin area of North Kashmir’s Bandipora. “They were Pakistani nationals identified as Ali and Hubaib,” he said.

They had held seven civilians hostage, six of whom were rescued by the security forces. But 12-year-old Aatif Mir was killed by them. “Despite repeated requests by community members and police for his release, he was brutally killed by the terrorists,” police said. Another two terrorists were killed in Gadapora village in South Kashmir’s Shopian. They are yet to be identified. One more terrorist was killed in an encounter in Warpora in Sopore.
