The Karnataka BJP has decided to lodge a police complaint against Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala for his “baseless allegations” attributed to a diary allegedly belonging to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, which the I-T department has dismissed as “forgery document”.
It may be recalled that two days ago, the Congress has demanded probe by the newly constituted Lokpal into a media report that alleged bribes of Rs 1,800 crore were paid to BJP top leaders by its former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa.
The Congress made these allegations based on photocopies of Yeddyurappa’s purported diary, which was submitted to the Income Tax department. But the department dismissed it as a “forgery document” and a “set of loose papers”.
BJP spokesperson and MLA S Suresh Kumar alleged that the Congress has failed miserably in its attempt to malign their party leadership. He demanded that Surjewala should be arrested immediately for spreading baseless allegation, as the papers provided by him proved to be forgery.
