Jaya Prada likely to join BJP, may contest against Azam Khan in Rampur

Veteran Bollywood actress Jaya Prada is said to be set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and contest from her former seat Rampur in Uttar Pradesh. From here, previously she had won twice as SP candidate to Lok Sabha.

Now, BJP is in search of a potential candidate for Rampur seat, after Samajwadi Party declared its senior leader Azam Khan will contest from here. While both of them were MPs in SP, they have bitter enmity. She had also made serious allegations against the senior SP leader, including a claim that he “attempted an acid attack” on her.

Before her into into Bollywood, she was a popular actor in Tollywood and join TDP during N T Rama Rao period. Due to her close association with Chandrababu Naidu, she was sent to Rajya Sabha. But, later she quit the party due to differences with Naidu.

Later, she joined hands with Samajwadi Party and became MP from Rampur twice. In 2010, she was expelled from the SP, after which she floated Rashtriya Lok Manch along with Amar Singh. It may be recalled now Amar Singh is said to be having close association with BJP and he may be main instrument in getting her BJP seat.
