Supporters of senior BJP leaders — Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad and Rajya Sabha member RK Sinha — clashed outside the Patna airport, today, after the party decided to field Prasad from the Patna Sahib Lok Sabha seat.
Violence erupted soon after Prasad arrived from Delhi, first time after he was declared as party’s candidate from Patna Saheb Lok Sabha constituency, presently represented by Shatrughna Sinha. R K Sinha was strong aspirant for the seat. Both leaders are now BJP’s Rajya Sabha members.
When, Prasad arrived from Delhi, large number of his supporters reached their welcoming him. However, Sinha’s supporters showed him black flags and shouted slogan against him. They raised slogans stating `Go Back Prasad’, `Down Down Prasad’, `Zindabad Zindabad RK Singh’.
Police and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel dispersed the mob. Prasad refused to comment on the incident. This will be the first time for Prasad to contest in a direct election and unfortunately during his first visit to the city as a candidate received protests from his own party personnel.
