Bollywood actor Urmila Matondkar today met Congress chief Rahul Gandhi in Delhi and officially joined the party. After joining the party, Urmila said she is here to stay and will not leave after the elections.
Seated with Congress leaders Randeep Surjewala and Mumbai Congress leaders, Urmila said she believes in Congress’s philosophy and Rahul Gandhi and is here to stay.
“I am here because I believe in the ideology of Congress and what the party stands for. I have not joined the party for the sake of elections,” she added. She also said that India is riddled with the problems of unemployment and she wishes to work on that. Rahul Gandhi and Randeep Surjewala welcomed Urmila to the Congress party.
Urmila Matondar started her career in Bollywood as a child artiste. She came to prominence with her role in Shekhar Kapoor’s 1983 movie ‘Masoom’. Urmila won the Filmfare best actress award in 1995 for Ram Gopal Verma’s ‘Rangeela’. She Matondkar was last seen in a special appearance for Abhinay Deo’s ‘Blackmail’ in 2018.
